Payment on demand
Article 551
- (1)
- A cheque shall be payable always on demand. Any provision to the contrary shall be invalid.
- (2)
- A cheque presented for payment before the date indicated as date of issue, shall be payable on the date of presentation.
Term for presentation
Article 552
A cheque must be presented for payment within eight days following the date of its issue.
Withdrawal
Article 553
- (1)
- A cheque may be withdrawn by the drawer after expiration of the term for presentation.
- (2)
- Where a cheque has not been withdrawn, the drawee may pay it after the expiration of the term for presentation as well.
Death or legal disability of the drawer
Article 554
The death or legal disability of the drawer occurring after the issue, shall not affect the effect of the cheque.
