Commission Report (2002): Latvia
Work on improving quality and coverage of statistics has continued, but
further efforts in this field are necessary regarding use of resources and
sectoral statistics, including on debt and deficits, forestry and
environment. Good progress was made in terms of resources made available to
further strengthen statistical capacities, including at regional level; as
required by the Action Plan, the implementation of the strategy on upgrading
of the statistical infrastructure has continued. Overall, the Accession
Partnership priorities in the area of statistics have been met to a
considerable extent. Implementation of the measures under the Action Plan is
on track.
