Slovak Financial Law News 2004

Treaty on Participation in the European Economic Area

Notification of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic No. 266/2004 Coll. on Participation of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic in the European Economic Area

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic hereby notified that the Treaty on Participation of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic in the European Economic Area was adopted in Luxembourg on 14 October 2003.

The Treaty was signed on behalf of the Slovak Republic in Luxembourg on 14 October 2003.

The National Council of the Slovak Republic approved the Treaty by decision No. 783 of 4 February 2004 and resolved that the Treaty is deemed to be the Treaty in compliance with Section 7(5) of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic which preponderates over the laws of the Slovak Republic.

The President of the Slovak Republic ratified the Treaty on 23 February 2004. The Deed of Ratification was deposited at General Secretary of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, the depository of the Treaty on 19 March 2004.

The Treaty came into force, as regards the Slovak Republic on 1 May 2004.
