(Resolution of the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic on declaration of proposal accepted in referendum held on May 16 and 17, 2003)
In the Collection of Laws of the Slovak Republic, under No. 175/2003 Coll., the Resolution of the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic on declaration of proposal accepted in the referendum held on May 16 and 17, 2003 was published, in which a majority of the authorised citizens decided that they agree that the Slovak Republic shall become a member state of the European Union.
The total number of authorised citizens registered in the voting lists for the referendum was 4,174,097. The total number of authorised citizens who participated in the voting was 2,176,990 (i.e. 52.15%). The total number of authorised citizens who answered ``yes'' to the question in the referendum was 2,012,870 (i.e. 92.46%) and the total number of authorised citizens who answered ``no'' to the question in the referendum was 135,031 (i.e. 6.2%).
