The new fifth chapter is inserted into the fourth part of the Act on Protection of Human Health, which specifically regulates the area of cosmetic products. The requirements for the characteristics of cosmetic products are determined, and the procedure and activity of Slovak authorities shall be harmonised with the activities of the European Commission.
The rules for the promotion of cosmetic products are specified. A cosmetic product may not be designated, described or offered in a false manner or in a manner that a consumer may be misled as for its characteristics. Texts, titles and figural or other displays may not be used in the designation of the cosmetic product for the designation of such characteristics that it lacks. On the contrary, potential testing on animals must be indicated.
The act regulates in detail the powers of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in relation to cosmetic products.
