DECISION OF PRESIDENT ON DECLARATION OF REFERENDUM

(Decision of the President of the Slovak Republic No. 49/2003 Coll. on Declaration of Referendum)

By this decision, the President of the Slovak Republic declared on 17 February 2003 pursuant to Article 95 para. 1 and Article 102 para. 1 lett. n) of the Constitution of the Slovak Republic and under Sec. 2 of the Act on Manner of Performance of Referendum on the basis of a resolution of the National Council of the Slovak Republic dated 21 January 2003 a referendum on entry of Slovakia to the European Union.

In the mentioned referendum, the authorised citizens will be entitled to respond to the question: ``Do you agree that the Slovak Republic will become a member state of the European Union?''

The referendum on this question will take place on 16 and 17 May 2003.
